Copper City Chiefs Internship Program (2026-2027 Season)

The Copper City Chiefs are seeking highly motivated, enthusiastic, and career-driven interns for the 2026-2027 hockey season. This unique opportunity provides hands-on experience in professional sports while working alongside experienced front office personnel in a fast-paced hockey environment.

Our ideal candidates are detail-oriented, proactive problem-solvers who thrive in team settings and are passionate about delivering an exceptional fan experience. Interns will gain valuable exposure to multiple areas of professional sports operations, including Broadcasting, Game Operations, Social Media, and Ticketing.

Interns will work closely with the Game Night & Event Operations Manager and other front office staff members to help create and execute a first-class game day experience for our fans, sponsors, players, and community partners.

Position Summary

Interns will be expected to attend and work all Copper City Chiefs home games from October through April. While each intern may focus on a primary department, all interns will contribute to various aspects of game-day operations.

Our goal is to provide meaningful, real-world experience that helps aspiring sports professionals develop their skills and discover career paths within the sports industry.


Broadcasting

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare digital assets for game broadcasts.
  • Assist with live production by switching camera feeds, activating commercials, and managing graphics.
  • Execute game-day broadcast scripts.
  • Support on-air talent through research and communication.
  • Monitor stream quality and troubleshoot issues during broadcasts.
  • Assist with additional production duties as assigned.

Game Operations

Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Game Night & Event Operations Manager with game presentation and event execution.
  • Coordinate in-game promotions, intermission contests, ceremonies, and on-ice experiences.
  • Serve as a liaison between staff, performers, sponsors, fans, and special guests.
  • Ensure all game presentation elements occur accurately and on schedule.
  • Recruit contestants and escort participants throughout the arena.
  • Support pregame, in-game, and postgame activities.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Social Media & Communications

Responsibilities:
  • Assist with the team's communications and digital media efforts.
  • Capture game-day content featuring players, fans, sponsors, and special events.
  • Create engaging content for Facebook, X, Instagram, TikTok, and other platforms.
  • Update team website content and news.
  • Assist with content editing and production.
  • Collaborate with the marketing and communications teams on content strategy.
  • Post real-time game updates, highlights, goals, saves, fan interactions, and theme night content.
  • Gather content from community appearances and special events.
  • Organize and archive photos and media assets.
  • Complete other assignments as needed.

Ticketing

Responsibilities:
  • Assist with VIP and group ticket holder experiences.
  • Manage will-call ticket distribution on game nights.
  • Help maintain efficient ticket operations and organization.
  • Provide customer service and assist with ticket-related issues.
  • Support the Ticket Manager with troubleshooting and game-day operations.

Qualifications

Requirements:
  • Must be 17 years of age or older.
  • Strong interest in sports, entertainment, or event management.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Comfortable interacting with large crowds and providing exceptional customer service.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite is preferred but not required.
Additional Information:
  • This is an unpaid internship.
  • Internship hours may qualify for college course credit depending on institution requirements.
  • Valuable hands-on experience and networking opportunities within professional hockey and sports entertainment.
